Breastfeeding Sessions:

While breastfeeding is natural, it does not come naturally! Each breastfeeding session provides education, assessment, and techniques for common issues such as proper latch, treating sore/damaged nipples, developing efficient nursing sessions, and maintaining strong milk supply as well as opportunities to have your unique questions answered and your concerns alleviated.


Breastfeeding Basics Prenatal Session

A prenatal two hour intensive breastfeeding educational session for new or experienced parents

All mothers who would like to succeed in breastfeeding need support and education. As an Advanced Lactation Consultant, Krista will come into your home prenatally for a two hour overview of breastfeeding benefits and techniques to ensure you are off to the “breast” start!

Session includes:

  • A quick guide to understanding milk production and proper, pain-free, latch
  • Tips to get breastfeeding off to a good start in the hospital/birth center
  • Latch DVD viewing and discussion
  • Evaluation checklist to determine potential problems before they begin
  • Economic benefits to breastfeeding sheet (Money saved breastfeeding vs. formula feeding)
  • Guide for pumping, collecting, storing, and bottle-feeding breast milk

In-Home Breastfeeding Consultation Session

A one or two hour in-home breastfeeding assessment

The early days and weeks of breastfeeding are filled with challenges! It’s not always practical or possible to go out for support. This session is a convenient way to get the help you need with breastfeeding in the comfort and privacy of your own home. As an Advanced Lactation Consultant, Krista will observe and assess nursing and offer professional guidance.

Session includes:

  • Tips and advice for achieving pain-free latch, relief for damaged nipples, and efficiently nursing baby
  • Latch and milk transfer assessments
  • Learn how to understand Baby’s hunger/full cues (know if Baby is “getting enough milk”)
  • Evaluation and advice for breastfeeding environment (Did you know your house can impact your breastfeeding experiences?)
  • Access to infant weight scale and growth chart (No need to take Baby into pediatrician’s office! Weights can be called in as requested)
  • Guide for pumping, collecting, storing, and bottle-feeding breast milk
  • Tips and techniques for supporting the breastfeeding mother
  • Answers to any questions or concerns you may have

Breast Is Best Breastfeeding Package

Prenatal education, personal support, and prompt postpartum follow up visits ensure you are educated and prepared for breastfeeding your newborn. Each visit is designed to answer your questions and concerns, evaluate latch, and understand what to do / what to anticipate as a breastfeeding mother.

Package includes:

  • 2 Hour prenatal Breastfeeding Basics Session
  • 2 Hour in-home visit 1-3 days after birth facility discharge
  • 2 Hour in-home postpartum follow up one week later
  • Phone and email support

Back to Work Breastfeeding Session

Two hour session for families dealing with the transition of mom returning to work

During times of great transition, families need extra help; this is especially true when moms return to work. Krista can help you create a care plan for all members of your family that will focus on logistics as well as emotional support.

  • Breastfeeding/Pumping plan to ensure adequate milk supply and continuation of breastfeeding relationship
  • From breast to bottle feeding – transition tips and education

We all want the best for our kids! Now you can become one of the best resources for your children and grandchildren! Krista will help you understand various parenting philosophies and how you can support your child as they transition into the parenting role.

Sleep Solutions Session

A one hour session for any parent who is looking to have better, longer, more rejuvenating sleep with a newborn

Lack of sleep can be one of the most challenging aspects of parenting a newborn. In this one hour session, Krista can help you understand Baby’s sleep cues and cycles, how the environment can help or hurt sleep behavior, and how to encourage your baby (and you!) to sleep better.

This Package can also be modified for families who need personalized in-home sleep support after baby is born. It’s never too late to ask for help!

Welcome Home Baby Session

Once home with your baby, Krista will come into your house for a two-hour crash course in postpartum parenting. This personalized package will help you learn about your unique baby in many ways and how you can respond as a parent. This package can be customized to suit your family’s specific needs, interests, and requests.

  • Tips to obtain better sleep for you and baby
  • Swaddling and soothing techniques
  • Baby care and bathing
  • Instruction on wearing baby
  • Answers to any questions or concerns you may have

Two hours for $120 – a comforting session for every new family! 

The Witching Hour Session

 

A one hour session for those parents who are dealing with the dreaded (though normal) “witching hour”

Many parents experience a period of time in the late afternoon/evening when their otherwise happy baby becomes inconsolable; though this daily period of time is often longer, it’s often referred to as “the witching hour”. In this one hour session, Krista will come into your home and help you learn techniques to comfort and soothe baby during the witching hour as well as provide tips for avoiding it in the future.

Session includes:

  • Strategies for parental coping
  • Understanding your baby’s cues and states
  • Environmental evaluation
  • Tips and techniques for calming, comforting, and sleeping
  • Answers to any questions or concerns you may have

One hour for $60 – a welcomed session for families dealing with the “witching hour”

Extra Hands Postpartum Doula Session

A two hour session for families who need occasional postpartum care

As an Advanced Certified Postpartum Doula, Krista will help you prepare for life with your newborn and make the transition to parenthood as smooth as possible, providing you with an opportunity to build your knowledge, skills, and relationship with your newborn, while having hands-on assistance.

Session options include:

  • Emotional support for mother and partner
  • Parental education and assistance
  • Cooking meals and grocery shopping
  • Light housework (laundry, dishes, etc)
  • Nursery/household organization
  • Understanding your baby’s cues and states
  • Tips to obtain better sleep for you and baby
  • Swaddling and soothing techniques
  • Baby care and bathing
  • Instruction on wearing baby
  • Answers to any questions or concerns you may have

What about siblings?

Having a new baby is a challenging transition for all family members, but is an especially sensitive time for older siblings who need to learn how to share everything – even their parents! With a B.S. in Family Studies, Krista has specific education and knowledge of early childhood development and how to help siblings adjust to life with their new baby.

Two hours for $120 – the perfect session for occasional hands on help!

Packages provide families with longer-term, more detailed, hands on education, skills, and support and are based on an hourly rate*. All packages are done in the privacy of your home.

Postpartum Doula Support Package

For parents who want continuous physical, emotional, and educational support. This package can be modified for first baby, multiples, and/or adoption.

Congratulations – you’re expecting a baby! Now what? As an Advanced Certified Postpartum Doula, Krista will help you prepare for life with a newborn and make the transition to parenthood as smooth as possible. This package greatly expands on the Welcome Home Baby Session by providing you with multiple opportunities to build your knowledge, skills, and relationship with your newborn while having hands-on daily assistance.

Package includes:

  • Postpartum support one to three days each week for the first month after Baby is born. Extensions after the first month may be added to meet your family’s needs.

One one-hour prenatal meeting covering:

  • Intake questionnaires to determine anticipated support needed
  • Postpartum plan creation
  • Answers to any questions or concerns you may have
  • If needed, sibling preparation techniques may be included

Once Baby is born, daily:

  • Emotional support for mother and partner
  • Parental education and assistance
  • Additional local resources if needed
  • Cooking meals and grocery shopping
  • Light housework (laundry, dishes, etc)
  • Nursery/household organization
  • Understanding your baby’s cues and states
  • Tips to obtain better sleep for you and baby

Rejuvenating Bed Rest Package

For moms who need extra support before baby arrives

Bed rest can be physically, mentally, and emotionally exhausting. Mothers are at increased risk for mood disorders and may be concerned about life after pregnancy. Antepartum care can be much like postpartum doula care; Krista can help the new mother and family in-home by providing educational, emotional, and logistical support.

Package includes:

  • Emotional support for mother and partner (sometimes just having someone else to be with and talk to makes all the difference!)
  • Educational support and additional resources if needed
  • Cooking meals and grocery shopping
  • Light housework (laundry, dishes, etc)
  • Nursery/household organization

$35 per hour for Antepartum Care – *8 hour minimum required 

 


Video Chat Assistance

Video Chat Assistance is available for existing clients, those who are unable to schedule a Session, or parents who live outside of Koru Care’s service zone. Chats are based on a flat fee and can be scheduled in 0-30 or 30-60 minute increments.

Video Chat Assistance provides an opportunity for parents to discuss their questions and concerns, connect with a trained professional, and learn some quick tips and techniques. Much more information can be conveyed via video than just a phone call alone so more detailed assessment and advice can be achieved.
