Dr. Sears, a well known pediatric expert and author has this to say about the cost of postpartum doula services: “At no time in history have new mothers been expected to do so much for so many with so little help. In many places a mother is presented with a doula; these gems are well worth the price!”
Two prenatal meetings:
- The first meeting: intake questionnaires to determine anticipated support needed and create a postpartum plan
- The second meeting: preparation for baby - may include nursery set up, household organization, “how to” demonstrations, answers to your questions/concerns. This is also a good time to combine with the Lactation Package (for those who plan on breastfeeding)
Once baby is born:
- Postpartum support three days each week for the first month after the baby is born
- After the first month, extensions may be added to meet your needs
